Hello all.
This weeks question is: Consider how my ideas about my topic could be influential in later research?
This is a hard question to answer, because I am not sure if my paper is even good at this point. I personally want to know about this topic, which is "Children and second hand smoke". I hope that my paper will wake up some parents and they think twice about smoking in their house, in the car and just around children. I hope to find so much information that I can say I really researched the paper and I know what I am talking about. I wish my paper could help others, who are writing a paper, on the same subject to verify my research. I hope to influence not just later research, but I also will have my friends who smoke reading it. Especially when they have kids. There is this myth, about cigarettes, that I hear all the time from my smoking friend, who are parents. It states that cigarettes have been classified as "good for your health" in the 50's and 60's. That many state that they also grew up around smoke and they are not sick. Yes, in the 50's and 60's, there was not research available to the people who smoked. They did not know how bad smoking really is. It started in the 70's that smoking became a health risk, not just to the person who smokes, but also to the people who live with them and do not smoke. I think that all that started with one article, and it grew from there. Now, in our time, we know what smoking can do to us, and our loved one, but many article on second hand smoke talk only of the adults. The children are kind of overseen in this. And the children are the ones that suffer the most. I just hope and pray that this paper will be a wake up call to people. The children are suffering and don't even know it. It takes years to get to the point where the Doctors see what second hand smoke did to them.
